Inmate Found Dead At Morris County Jail

The cause of death has not been determined yet, the prosecutor said.

MORRISTOWN, NJ— An inmate was found dead at the Morris County Correctional Facility last week, the county prosecutor said in a statement.

The inmate was found in his cell the morning of Jan. 12 by staff members, Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said. Medical aid was unsuccessful.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office are all investigating the incident.

Cause and manner of death are still under investigation, and the identity of the inmate is being withheld so officials can notify his family.
