Korean War Veteran, Morristown Firefighter Dies at 84

Arthur Slockbower survived by five grandchildren, two great grandchildren.

Arthur Slockbower gave of himself both overseas and in his native Morristown.

The Korean War veteran died recently at the age of 84 at the Hunterdon Medical Center, according to his obituary.

Born and raised in Morristown, Slockbower graduated Morristown High School before moving on to the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service.

He served in the Army during the Korean War, and then as a funeral director in the Morris County area for more than 50 years. Slockbower volunteered as a member of the Humane Engine Co. 2 of the Morristown Fire Department, the NJ Exempt Firemen’s Association, the American Legion Post 59 of Morristown, and the 40 & 8 Club, his obituary said.

Slockbower is predeceased by his wife, Barbara, and survived by a son and daughter as well as five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
