MORRISTOWN, NJ— The following is an editorial written by Kevin Brown, the Vice President and NJ State Director endorsing Mayor Timothy Dougherty in his re-election campaign.

“32BJ SEIU, the largest property services union in the country, is proud to announce its support for Timothy Dougherty in his re-election bid for the Mayor of Morristown.

Dougherty has been a true friend to working people. He stood by subcontracted striking office cleaners at Honeywell in Morristown when they feared they would lose their union protection. When 7,000 office cleaners across the state were fighting for a fair contract, Dougherty marched by their side through the streets of Newark. And he offered support for two critical pieces of legislation; earned sick time is a new ordinance that requires employers to provide paid sick leave to their private-sector employees who work within the Town of Morristown limits, and Municipal ID’s which ensure all city residents, including the undocumented, have proof of residency.
