A Life of Service: Danielle Gioffre, '22

Honors Program student follows in her sisters' footsteps as volunteer, tutor and Girl Scout.

Morristown, N.J. (April 28, 2020) – Can you declare “success” as your major? Well, Danielle Gioffre, ’22, sure did!

A member of Saint E’s Honors program, a tutor for the Academic Success Center and highly involved in campus ministry, Danielle Gioffre has spent her entire life serving her community. Inspired by the legacy set forth by her older sisters, Gioffre wants to succeed on her own because of them, not in spite of them.

“I do a lot because of how I personally feel I can make the best change in the world,” explains Gioffre. “It’s not because I want to stand out from the rest of my family, it’s that I’ve been so inspired by them that I want to be more like them.”

Since Gioffre’s older sisters were always in Girl Scouts, she jokes that she’s been a member since birth. Earning her Bronze, Silver and Gold awards for various service-related activities meant that Gioffre earned the most prestigious award available to Girl Scouts.

She managed to channel that same passion for helping others into her time at Saint E’s. In fact, she’s been heavily involved in the College’s Campus Ministry program, constantly volunteering her time to better understand and help those in need. For instance, Gioffre participated in the Campus Ministry’s Sleep Out for the Homeless event that sought to raise both funds for and awareness about people struggling with homelessness. Additionally, she was a participant in the College’s immigration simulation intended to expose students to the challenges facing immigrant detainees.

According to Gioffre, these experiences with Saint E’s Campus Ministry has helped her expand her knowledge of other cultures and encouraged her to get involved in even more service projects.
For this remarkable Saint E’s student, the possibilities are endless! While she may have followed her older sister Marissa to campus, Gioffre has definitely carved out her own unique path.
She possesses the gift of helping others, allowing for an abundance of empathy in a self-serving world. She is a strong role model for all students and all members of the community. She puts the passion in compassionate!

She may officially be a Chemistry and Mathematics major, but her true major is success!
