Local Author, Former Morris Court House Employee Dies at 93

Arline Fowler Dempsey was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Arline Fowler Dempsey made the most of her nine decades on earth.

The local historian and author died recently at age 93, according to her obituary.

Dempsey authored ā€œMemories of Morris Canalā€ and ā€œOld Boonton and the Jersey City Reservoir.ā€

She was very active with the New Jersey Special Olympics, having received the honor of being voted ā€œVolunteer of the Year for the State of New Jerseyā€ in 1988.

Fowler is a former employee of the Morris County Courthouse who took pleasure in helping people track down their family history and enjoyed helping others. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 2519, District 10.

Fowler was married to the late Joseph Francis Dempsey and previously to the late Alan L. Morrison.

She is survived by a daughter, son, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
