This year, COVID-19 has caused many restrictions when it comes to celebrating, especially for those at high risk of contracting the virus. Cadette Girl Scout Troop 6163 wanted to do something special to spread some cheer to the local nursing homes, the hospital, the Morristown Green and some of the surrounding neighborhoods.

Troop 6163 is composed of twelve 8th grade girls who currently attend Frelinghuysen Middle School in Morristown. They are working on obtaining their Silver Awards, but in order to start, they need to do a Take Action Project to finish the required engineering journey. For this project, the girls are engineering a Holiday Light Display on Wheels.
They are going to decorate 11 cars with lights and blowups and drive to different locations throughout Morristown on Sunday, December 20th starting at 5pm to display an amazing light show on wheels that practices social distancing to keep everyone safe.

“It stinks that because of COVID, some children and adults are unable to go out to experience the holiday lights this year," states troop 6163. Hopefully the Holiday Light Display on Wheels can cheer up some people and get them in the joyous spirit of the season. Though this is a tough year, our Girl Scout troop leader, Wendy Bongo, believes that “the show must go on!”
The goal of the Holiday Light Display on Wheels is to spread cheer, hope and love to those who need it most safely. Some of the cars will have special holiday themed blowup characters and lights that you can see from a distance. So, look for us and give us support. Our hope is to bring light and joy to the darkness!
