Morristown, NJ –August 9, 2017 – Gooey slime, high launching rockets, and environmental cleanup were all part of the third annual Summer STEM Institute program host by the Exploring/Learning for Life division of the Patriots' Path Council, Boy Scouts of America in Cedar Knolls. More than 250 students from the Greater Morristown area attend the co-ed program, 158% increase from 2016.

"The redesigned curriculum included STEM oriented field trips and speakers series providing students with hands on, real life STEM experiences," said director Coral Kennedy. "Speakers came from Verizon, NJ Natural Gas, Johnson and Johnson, Nokia Bell Labs and more!"

In addition to an outstanding program, more than $5,000 in financial assistance was awarded to over 20 youth. Transportation was also provided to participating families.

"I like going to my STEM camp because my counselors are nice and my favorite projects were the lava lamps, slime, and stomp rockets,” said Elizabeth Dadaian of Mine Hill. “I really hope I can come back next year!”

Each week the students also participated in a service project by collecting several boxes of donations to be shipped to service men and women overseas through Jersey Cares.
