Long Valley Schedules Memorial Day Ceremony: See Details

The ceremony in Long Valley will feature retired Army Major Anthony Frank DeStefano as keynote speaker.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township Recreation and the American Veterans Association of Washington Township Post 1776 are inviting residents to attend the township’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony later this month in Long Valley.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, at the Rock Spring Park Memorial War Site, 35 East Springtown Road.

According to the announcement, the ceremony will begin promptly at noon and will be held rain or shine. Organizers said the event is intended to honor servicemen and servicewomen who made sacrifices in service to the nation.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Major Anthony Frank DeStefano, United States Army (Ret), according to the announcement.

The event notice also calls on residents to gather in remembrance. ā€œLet us come together to pay tribute to our veterans and fallen heroes, ensuring their legacy is remembered with gratitude and respect,ā€ the announcement states.

Residents planning to use Rock Spring Park that day should note that the park will not be open for regular activities. According to the announcement, ā€œRock Spring Park will be reserved exclusively for this ceremony and closed to all other activities for the day.ā€
