Man Gets Prison Time For Sexual Assault At Morris County College

The New Jersey man pleaded guilty last year to forcing a woman into a Fairleigh Dickinson University dorm room and sexually assaulting her.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Jersey City man was sentenced to 15 years in prison this week after forcing a woman into a dorm room at Fairleigh Dickinson University and sexually assaulting her for several hours.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll announced Friday that Jayshawn E. Moore, 22, who is not affiliated with the university, was sentenced and ordered to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.

In October 2023, Moore pleaded guilty to several charges including kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault. He has been held at Morris County Correctional Facility since his April 2023 arrest.

Moore also was ordered to have no contact with the victim, prosecutors said.

Moore, according to police, forced a woman that he knew into a dorm room on the Fairleigh Dickinson campus on April 9, 2023. Once inside the room, he threatened the victim verbally and with a knife and assaulted her physically and sexually for several hours.

Moore was arrested in Elizabeth two days later.
