Man Robs Bank With A Piece Of Paper In Morris County, Cops Say

The suspect handed the teller a note demanding cash in the middle of the day, authorities said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Police have arrested a Warren County man for his role in a bank robbery that took place this week, prosecutors said.

Jason H. Perlett, 65, of Hackettstown, was arrested Monday after he stole thousands of dollars from a bank in Denville, according to authorities.

On Monday, around 4 p.m., police were called to the Bank of America on East Main Street on reports that it had been robbed.

Investigators discovered that Perlett had handed the bank teller a note demanding money, police said. No weapon was displayed, authorities added.

The teller cooperated, and Perlett left the bank with $6,000 before getting into his vehicle and driving off, officials said.

About an hour later, Perlett’s car was spotted driving on Route 10 in Roxbury. Police pulled him over and found evidence and the stolen money in the car, according to prosecutors.

Perlett was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery. He is being held in the Morris County Correctional Facility to await court proceedings.

The robbery is still under investigation.
