Man Shot At Dog During Attempted Burglary In Morris Township

The man missed the dog, but still hasn't been found by police.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man shot at a dog that was chasing him away after a failed burglary attempt in Morris Township Saturday night, Morris Township Prosecutor Fredrick M. Knapp said.

The man tried to get into a Frederick Place home around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, Knapp said. As the man tried to get in with a gun, the family's dog began to chase after him. Knapp said the man tried to shoot at the dog but missed, hitting the home instead. No one was injured.

Police are still searching for the man, who is described as a black man in his 20s or 30s. He is about five feet seven inches tall with an athletic build, and short hair on the sides with short braids on top. He was wearing a lack hoodie, dark pants and a black backpack.

The incident remains under investigation, and police are looking for the public's help.
