Masked ICE Agents Spotted Arresting People In Morristown, Reports Say

MORRISTOWN, NJ — More Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations are underway in Morristown this week, according to reports.

Several videos circulating on social media on Tuesday showed ICE activity across Morristown, specifically on Speedwell Avenue.

Most reports say the incidents took place just after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

One incident, which has been captured from multiple angles, shows ICE agents putting two handcuffed men into the back of a car one near the intersection of Speedwell and Sussex avenues. One man is wearing a grey sweatshirt, and the second wearing a reflective worker's vest.

Patch has reached out to both Morristown public safety officials the Department of Homeland Security for additional information on the reported operations, and has not heard back at this time.

This is the latest of several ICE sweeps throughout Morristown this year. Last month, masked federal officers took in a dozen people in one sweep. In January, a Morristown high school student was among those detained.

While New Jersey legislation was passed to prevent ICE agents from conducting operations behind a mask, federal officials said they would not abide by it.
