The MCHS and the NJ Consortium for Gifted and Talented Programs, Inc. Announce "Living Voices" Events
Local middle school students take an active role in collecting, presenting, and preserving oral histories.
Join the Morris County Historical Society and the New Jersey Consortium for Gifted and Talented Programs, Inc. as they celebrate "Living Voices," a comprehensive oral history project undertaken by students from the Frelinghuysen Middle School, Morris School district. On Friday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the students present their multimedia presentations based on the oral histories they collected from a wide selection of individuals. Presentations will be given at the Headquarters Museum auditorium, Morristown National Historical Park, 30 Washington Place, Morristown. The event is free to the public. Persons interested in purchasing tickets to tour the Morristown National Historical Park may do so before, or after, the event. The Society, the Consortium, and the students are grateful to the Morristown National Historical Park for offering the use of its facilities in support of this event.
In addition, a special display of the students' various oral history projects is offered in Acorn Hall's Exhibit Gallery from Wednesday, April 13 through Thursday, April 21. Acorn Hall is open for tours on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The admission to tour Acorn Hall and to see the exhibit is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for students, and Free for children under age 12 and MCHS members.
