Property Tax Increase In Approved Morristown 2022 Municipal Budget

The Township Committee has adopted its 2022 municipal budget, with an estimated 2.2 cent increase in the local property tax rate. The approved municipal budget is $44,043,376, a 1.5 percent decrease from last year's $44,718,098, primarily due to a decrease in grant money.

Nearly 700 Unwanted Guns Returned At Morris Co. Buy Back Event

Morris County residents turned in 674 unwanted guns at the county's recent "Guns for Cash" event on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15 at Budd Lake and Parsippany. Six assault rifles, 309 rifles and shotguns, 301 handguns, 12 inoperable firearms and 46 BB guns were among the firearms surrendered, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.

Abortion-Rights Supporters Rally In Morristown: 'Bans Off Our Bodies'

Gathering amid fears that the U.S. Supreme Court may overturn Roe v. Wade, nearly 800 people in Morris County rallied Saturday in support of abortion rights. The volunteer-organized "Bans Off Our Bodies Rally," was held at 10 N. Park Place in response to the possibility of the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that made abortion legal in all 50 states.

Lake Fire Extinguished With Help Of Morris County Sheriff's Office

A fire on Halsey Island in Lake Hopatcong required the assistance of the Morris County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit on the afternoon of May 9. A total of 50 to 60 firefighters and emergency medical personnel were taken to the island, where the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.
