Monk's Service Scholarship Accepting Applications

Monk's Home Improvements is accepting applications for its fourth annual Monk’s Service Scholarship Award.

Students who have demonstrated a leadership role in community service are encouraged to apply. Five scholarships, each in the amount of $2,000, will be awarded. Applicants must have a local permanent address and have plans to attend an accredited college or university for the 2017-2018 school year.

“We are so proud to be awarding five scholarships again this year,” asserts Ty Monk, founder of Monk’s Home Improvements. “We’ve met some amazing young people over the past three years. Previous scholarship recipients have helped the community in a variety of inspiring ways.” Monk adds, “The common thread is their passion. They are really committed to making a difference.”

Previous award winners have been both local high school students, as well as college students. Their service efforts have been focused both in the immediate area, as well as in countries in South America and Asia. Scholarship winners have been volunteer firefighters and EMTs, Chelsea Nursing Home volunteers, TryCAN mentors, American Cancer Society volunteers, and leaders for Habitat for Humanity, for example.
