Morris County Battered Women's Services Received $5,000 Holiday Donation

The gift comes from the FirstEnergy Foundation.

MORRISTOWN, NJ— Morris County's Battered Women's Service received a $5,000 holiday donation, courtney of the FirstEnergy Foundation.

They were one of 12 charities selected as part of FirstEnergy's 12 Gifts Of The Season program. FirstEnergy is a utility company which includes JCP&L.

“The donation was meant to bring added holiday spirit to an organization that does a lot of good year-round in the JCP&L area,” said Dee Lowery, president of the FirstEnergy Foundation. “Our goal was to create a new giving program focused on enhancing children’s services, or providing additional support for organizations facing a critical need during this time of year.”

Jersey Battered Women's Service provides prevention and rehabilitation services to victims of domestic violence.

Services include a 24-hour hotline, counseling, a safe house, children’s services, legal assistance and life skills education. For information about the services available go to http://www.jbws.org.
