New signs have been installed at entry points to theĀ Musconetcong Watershed National Water TrailĀ onĀ Lake Hopatcong and Lake Musconetcong to mark the nationally designated system of water trails.

The trials were created to promote recreational access within the Musconetcong Watershed and includes routes along Lake Hopatcong, Lake Musconetcong and the Musconetcong River.

The Lake Hopatcong Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that operates programs designed to improve and promote the history, protection and culture of the Lake Hopatcong region and community, thanked theĀ efforts of the Hopatcong Borough Department of Public Works, Hopatcong State Park and the Morris County Department of Public Works for their assistance in installing the National Water Trail signs, which were provided by the United States Department of Interior.Ā
A trail brochureĀ offersĀ information on the 11 Musconetcong Watershed National Water Trail trip segments, which provide access for recreation in natural, historic and agricultural landscapes. Best for kayaks and canoes, conditions range from flat water to advanced white water in segments 4-12 miles long, or longer when combined.
