Morris County Irish Pub To Close After 47 Years

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — An Irish staple in Morris County has announced it will be shutting its doors for good this month.

The Quiet Man Irish Pub, located at 64 East McFarlan Street in Dover, announced on Friday that it will be closing on Aug. 29.

"This decision did not come easily," a statement from the owners read. "Many of you know that we have been trying to sell the business for nearly six years. We explored every opportunity because our sincere hope was that someone would continue the tradition and keep The Quiet Man Legacy alive for generations to come. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the time has come for us to say goodbye."

The Quiet Man was opened in 1979 by Irish couple Frank and Anne Burke. The pub stayed with the family and has since become "a gathering place where friendships were made, families celebrated milestones, and countless memories were created."

For decades, the pub has offered traditional Irish bites including banger sausages, Reubens, and more. Diners could also enjoy an array of pub food, including bar pizzas, pasta dishes, fish, and more.

In addition to a wide beer and wine menu, the pub also offered cocktails including the Quiet Man Irish Coffee, the Irish Old Fashioned, and the Mango Margarita, to name a few.

"We love the Quiet Man. It has been our place to celebrate birthdays and our anniversaries, great owners and bartenders," one social media user wrote. "Very sad news. Best of luck in your next chapter, and we will see you all soon."

"So sad. The end of a fantastic era," said another.

The Burke Family is inviting patrons old and new to come visit The Quiet Man before its final day of service.

"We invite you to stop in during our final weeks to enjoy a meal, raise one last glass, and share your favorite memories with us," the statement reads. "From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives and for making The Quiet Man such a truly special place."
