Morris County Residents Can Now Apply for Law Enforcement Career Development Course
The ten week program prepares college students for law enforcement careers.

Morris County Residents can now apply for the fall 2016 Law Enforcement Career Developmental Course at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy in Parsippany.
This free program is aimed at college students who wish to pursue a career in law enforcement. Over 600 students have graduated from the course and many of them went on to law enforcement careers.
Students will study a variety of topics important to law enforcement careers, such as physical fitness, interview and résumé preparation, mock interviews, appropriate dress code, criminal law, and appropriate social media use.

All candidates are chosen equally, but the program actively seeks minority candidates in order to combat the lack of diversity among employees of law enforcement.
“This program is a key tool in helping law enforcement to maintain a professional and diverse workforce for the coming years,” said Morris County Undersheriff William Schievella in the press release.

The program is ten weeks long starting on Sept. 19. The class is held every Monday night from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
The program is sponsored by the New Jersey Police Community Affairs Officers Association, the Morris County Board of Freeholders, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, various law enforcement organizations, and 25 area colleges and universities.
The application deadline is Sept. 12.
