Morris County Veterans Invited to Free Legal Clinic and Resources Expo

"Our veterans have done so much for us, so we want to make sure we do our best to help them in their civilian lives," Kathy DeFillippo said.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ – All Morris County veterans and their dependents are invited to attend a free Morris County Veterans Legal Clinic and Resources Expo to learn about employment options, legal advice and healthcare services. The event will be held at Morris County Office of Temporary Assistance from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 11. by the Morris County Veterans’ Services Office and the Morris County Bar Foundation will hold the clinic.

"We urge our veterans to take advantage of this program to help ensure they are aware of services offered by the county, VA, and nonprofit agencies specifically geared to them," said Freeholder Director Kathy DeFillippo. "Our veterans have done so much for us, so we want to make sure we do our best to help them in their civilian lives."

At the expo, veterans and their families can:

  • Meet with attorneys that will provide a free legal consultation on domestic/marital issues, criminal, landlord/tenant, bankruptcy, and real estate matters. Each consultation will take up to 20 minutes and are conducted at the walk-in clinic.
  • Talk with Morris County Veterans Services Office representatives who will provide information on filing claims with VA, and discuss other services available to veterans.
  • Meet with VA Healthcare representatives who will offer information about the system, and explain eligibility and enrollment requirements.
  • Learn about employment services provided by The New Jersey Department of Labor.
  • Make appointments with for discounted dental services at the Zufall Dental mobile dental unit.
  • Receive a Morris County Veterans ID card (veterans must bring their DD-214 and a picture ID showing Morris County residency).
  • Discuss assistance programs available through the Morris County Office of Aging and Disabilities.
  • Enjoy free coffee and donuts.

Free transportation to and from the expo is available for veterans and their dependents. Specially marked vans will pick veterans up at 9 a.m. at three different locations: the Morristown Train Station, at the Wal-mart in Ledgewood, and at the Wal-mart in Boonton. The vans will make the return trip at noon.
