Morris Family Receives Veteran Grandfather's WW II Medals

Congressman Lance Helped Secure the Never Awarded Honors

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) stopped by St Mary's Church in Wharton on Sunday for a special double presentation – posthumously presenting the Morris Family with the late Eddie Morris’ service medals earned in the United States Navy during World War II, and congratulating Zack Morris for earning his Eagle Scout Award through the Boy Scouts of America.

Sam Morris, who is the Mayor of the Township of Mine Hill, is Eddie’s son and Zack’s father. “Today is a very special day. I am proud my family will now be able to treasure the awards and medals earned by my father from his service to our country. As the WWII generation is aging and we lose them to time, it's even more important to remember and commemorate them. I would like to thank Congressman Lance and his dedicated staff for their help in honoring my father and the WWII generation and for being here today for Zack.”

Eddie Morris enlisted in the United States Navy in from 1942 to 1945. During the invasion at Normandy, Morris was a gunner's mate, 2nd class on the LCI 420 at Omaha Beach. Lance presented the Morris Family with the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, European Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Discharge Button and Honorable Service Lapel Pin.
