MORRIS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR HOME IN WEST MILFORD

Morris Habitat for Humanity is reaching out to find the just the right family to purchase a single-family home on Chatham Road in the Upper Greenwood Lake section of West Milford in Passaic County. This project is the first partnership Morris Habitat has undertaken with Paterson Habitat for Humanity. The single-family home with three (3) bedrooms is expected to be finished by 2017. It’s located at the corner of Chatham and Morsemere Roads in West Milford. The house was vacant for several years due to a foreclosure and unfortunately, while it sat empty, it sustained roof damage and was no longer habitable. That will change quickly as volunteers from both Morris and Paterson Habitat for Humanity demolish it down to the foundation and work to make the house a model for what can be accomplished with a little elbow grease. Although it will not be handicap-accessible, it will be ENERGY STAR certified for energy efficiency, EPA WaterSense certified for water efficiency and EPA Indoor AirPLUS certified for health protections. Additionally a large detached garage is in good condition and will remain on the property. The homeowner selection process will begin in January 2016. The household size must be from three to six persons. If interested, people must attend a Home Application Orientation session at the offices of Morris Habitat for Humanity in Randolph. There they will receive an application form. The three Homeowner Application Orientation sessions will be held on: • Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. • Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. • Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. Those interested must pre-register for one of the mandatory orientations by going to http://www.morrishabitat.org/homeownership/apply-for-home-ownership or contacting Carolyn Haraksin, Director of Homeowner Relations, by email to carolyn.haraksin@morrishabitat.org or by calling 973.891.1934 ext. 107. Those attending must arrive on time and due to limited space only two people per interested family should plan on coming.
