Morris Habitat for Humanity Invites Women to Volunteer

Specially designated "Women Build Days" for Morris Habitat set

Women in Morris County are invited to help address the need for affordable housing during specially designated “Women Build Days” for Morris Habitat for Humanity. Following the great success of Habitat’s Women Build Week, dates have been set for Women Build events throughout the year. On these special days, Morris Habitat is asking women to volunteer from 8:30am-4:00pm. No training is necessary so it’s a great way to learn some new skills, bring a group or friends and/or team up with other women in the area. These dates for these “Women Build Days” are: July 23, August 16-20, August 27, and October 1. Those interested can sign up for one or all of the dates. Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program recruits, educates and inspires women to build and advocate for decent and affordable houses in their communities. Women volunteers boost Morris Habitat’s capacity to build more houses and serve more families. We know that women have the capability and determination necessary to build Habitat for Humanity houses, addressing the problem of substandard housing in a concrete way so that families have safe, decent and affordable homes. All volunteers are welcome and no special skills are needed. All that is asked for is a smile and a willingness to help. Construction volunteers do everything from pouring footings to roofing and final interior finishes. They all get to wear fantastic pink hard hats, too. “Volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization and provide countless hours of help and support to give families a hand up to homeownership,” said Blair Schleicher Bravo executive director of Morris Habitat. “Our program is made possible by the costs saved by volunteers who share their time and talent.” To volunteer or learn more about Morris Habitat, go to www.morrishabitat.com or email construction.scheduling@morrishabitat.org.
