Morristown Attorney, President of Pro-Life Center Dies at 73

Ed Gilhooly was devout Catholic, lived in Morristown for 37 years.

One of Morristown’s most notable attorneys and longtime resident has died at the age of 73.

Edward Gilhooly, Esq. moved to Morristown in 1977 after growing up in Essex County, according to his obituary.

Gilhooly was an officer in the Navy prior to becoming a lawyer. He received his J.D. from Seton Hall University in 1971 and performed much appellate work.

In 1989, Gilhooly began doing pro bono work for the Legal Center for Defense of Life in his hometown, later becoming its executive director, then its president.

Gilhooly is survived by his wife, Adele, seven children and 14 grandchildren.
