Morristown-Beard, Delbarton Are Two Of NJs Most Expensive Private Schools

Both schools are pricier than Rutgers.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Two Morristown private schools, Delbarton School and Morristown-Beard, are among the most expensive private schools in the state.

Delbarton ranks as the 12th highest tuition, with an annual cost of $37,900. Morristown-Beard is higher on the list, with its $40,760 bill putting it in the fifth spot.

The list, complied by NJ Advance Media, ranks schools only on their tuition costs. The most expensive school in the state is The Lawrenceville School, which charges over $51,000. For comparison, two semesters of tuition at the College of Arts and Sciences on Rutgers' New Brunswick campus would cost a New Jersey student about $14,500. Out of state students would pay just over $30,000 for the full year-- less than both Morristown private schools.

In addition to being the most expensive, both schools rank among the top private schools in the state, according to the education firm Niche. Delbarton is the eighth best private school in N.J., and Morristown-Beard is ranked 19th. (Lawerenceville School also tops the list of best private school based on academics.)
