Morristown Getting New Pavilion Through Rotary's $90K Donation
The donation goes toward the purchase and installation of the pavilion at Lidgerwood Park.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The Morristown Rotary Club got in the spirit of giving as it prepares to celebrate its centennial next year. The club donated $90,000 toward Morristown, which went toward the purchase and installation of a new pavilion at Lidgerwood Park.
The 32-foot pavilion will stand about 12 feet tall, accomodating gatherings of friends and family for cool breaks from the harsh summer sun. It will sit beside the playground, so parents can watch their children play.
A donation ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall's front steps.

The Morristown Rotary Club — a volunteer organization — has served the town for nearly 100 years and is an active part of Rotary International. The club will mark its 100th anniversary in 2022. Volunteers give their time to different community projects, raise funds and provide support to organizations that help community members and students.
Recent projects include partnering and assisting with food donations to help the local homeless shelters and community, as well as seniors around town and in the Township Housing Authority buildings. They also ran collection and distribution booths for books for children in need, assist veterans in transitional housing at the VA campus in Lyons every month, and participate in initiatives such as town beautification, Table of Hope and town-wide clean-ups.
"The Rotary Club is one of the most active community organizations here in Morristown," Dougherty said. "They keep our blood pumping and our town vibrant and colorful. We'll always appreciate them for the work they do and this donation is just the latest example."
