Morristown High Senior Named a Top Musician in Morris County
Peter Bacas is finishing his high school career with a bang.

While Peter Bacas goes to high school in Morristown, he knows just a few blocks away is a stage that hosted some of the world’s most talented musicians.
And he hopes to join them.
The Morristown High School senior took a step in that direction this month after being named one of Mayo Performing Arts Center’s top musicians of Morris County in the brass and jazz category.

Bacas was joined by nine other students from around the region, and was nominated by teacher Michael Russo.
This is what his educator had to say:

“Peter performs on Clarinet in the Wind Ensemble and on Tenor Saxophone in the Jazz Ensemble. He has performed with Pit Orchestra for the School Musicals and annually in the Solo and Small Ensemble Concert. Peter has successfully auditioned for the Region I Junior High School Jazz Ensemble; Region I Senior High School Jazz Ensemble and the prestigious All-State Jazz Ensemble! Peter possesses great desire and works very hard to achieve his goals. His natural enthusiasm combined with his preparedness for his ensemble rehearsals make him a student I am eager to challenge in my teaching. He is the one of the most talented students I have had the pleasure of working with in my thirty years in education.”
The 10 Morris County students recognized for April were honored prior to the performance by Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra on the ninth.
