Morristown, Madison Students Win Poetry Out Loud Regional Competition

Congratulations to Victoria Fanning of Morristown High School and Mitra Sharif of Madison High School!

MORRISTOWN, NJ— Two Morris County students took home top honors at the New Jersey Poetry Out Loud Region 4 Competition on Monday.

Victoria Fanning of Morristown High School and Mitra Sharif of Madison High School were named winners at the Mayo Performing Arts Center for their poems. The girls beat out students from 11 other schools.

The students will compete at the state finals on March 9 at The College of New Jersey. National finals are April 24-25 in Washington, D.C.

Poetry Out Loud is a poetry recitation program for high schoolers to learn about classic and contemporary poetry through recitation.
