Morristown Merit Students a Cut Above The Rest
Eight Morristown High School students named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.

On a night of honors doled out by the Morris School District Board of Education, the eight National Merit Students named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program stood tall.
Literally.
Ringing the front of the auditorium at the Lafayette School on Monday, Melissa Austin, Valerie Bai, David Coven, Nicholas Townshend Haas, Nicole Kramer, Conor Manning, Naomi Pohl, Erin Thornton, Christopher Haralampoudis, Cesar Villavicencio, and Nicole Kramer all were greeted with handshakes and applause for being named Commended Students in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Commended Students represent the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test.
The National Merit Scholarship Program also identifies academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students through its National Hispanic Recognition Program. These students' scores represent the top 2 percent among the 250,000 Hispanic/Latino students who took the PSAT/NMSQT. Haralampoudis, Villavicencio, and Kramer were among these honored students.
