Morristown Nonprofit Provided 150K+ Meals Last Year
Market Street Mission outlines its 2025 services for community members in need across New Jersey.
MORRISTOWN, NJ ā The Market Street Mission provided 156,164 meals and 48,637 nights of shelter to community guests and recovery program residents in 2025. These services supported individuals in Morristown, Asbury Park, Newton, and Paterson, New Jersey.
The Mission also reported that 30 men graduated from its Life Change Addiction Recovery Program. This program aims to equip participants with skills and support to overcome addiction and achieve sobriety.
Gordon Dahl, Market Street Mission CEO, stated that the services are critical given the ongoing needs in New Jersey. "With 13,748 people experiencing homelessness in New Jersey, 1,089,190 people facing food insecurity, and an initial estimate of 1,312 drug overdose deaths in the state in 2025, our services to the community are critical," Dahl said.

Dahl added that the Mission's doors are open daily to provide immediate and long-term care. He expressed gratitude for the donors and volunteers who make the work possible.
Carmine, a 2025 graduate of the Life Change Addiction Recovery Program, shared his experience. "Addiction consumed my adult life and separated me from my family and friends. I was homeless and living on the streets for upwards of a year and a half, still in my addiction ā but I found refuge at the Market Street Mission," Carmine said.

Carmine noted that he initially sought shelter and a meal, which led to him addressing his addiction. "Iām blessed to be sober today, and now, as a Mission Intern, I get to help others. Iām learning to love myself for who I am and who Iām becoming ā who God created me to be," he added.
In addition to meals, shelter, and addiction recovery, the Mission offers other community services. These include access to showers, grocery boxes, Thrift Store vouchers for furniture and clothing, and an annual Coat Giveaway event.
