Help Morristown Nurses Get Coronavirus Safety Supplies

MORRISTOWN, NJ - As the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, continues to strain the medical supplies for personnel the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center has set up a fund to assist.

"As you know, there is an increased need for the personal protective equipment required to ensure the safety of our health care professionals and allow them to provide extraordinary care to our patients," Atlantic Health spokesperson Karen O. Zatorski said. "Atlantic Health System caregivers are keenly aware of the importance of this equipment and are incredible stewards of our current limited resources."

Currently there is a great demand for this personal protective equipment, particularly respirator and surgical masks, as both domestic and international suppliers struggle to meet the growing worldwide need. In fact many healthcare providers have gone directly to social media in search of items from masks to crocs.

"To ensure we are ready for any eventuality, we are proactively exploring innovative ways to obtain additional supplies," Zatorski said. "We are reaching out to our local business partners to see if they have a limited stock of personal protective equipment that they might share with Atlantic Health System during this challenging time."

Currently the hospital is looking for:

• N95 masks
• Eye protectors
• Sterile gowns
• Surgical gloves
• Regular masks

Beyond that, the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center has set up a COVID-19 fund for assistance.

For in-kind donations of PPEs (personal protective equipment), please drop-off at Morristown Medical Center in the blue bin at the entrance or contact COVIDDonations@atlantichealth.org to arrange.
