MORRISTOWN, NJ - With no place for outdoor dining and with rising costs and no word on when indoor dining can resume, the owners of the Morristown Pancake House have decided to close their doors "indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic."

"We are not able to keep our doors open with sales from take out alone (it accounts for less than 5 percent of our business) and our location does not allow for any outdoor seating that will meet the governor’s requirements," the owners posted to social media.

The owners noted they were able to secure a Paycheck Protection Program loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration and U.S. Treasury, but that "ended weeks ago."

"We have used our own money to keep as much of our staff employed as we could, but that has dried up too," they said. "We will update as to the future of this restaurant, but we are as much in the dark as you."

In his daily mayor’s update video Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty lamented the business closing.

I was sorry to read their post over the weekend that they will be closing their doors", said Dougherty, noting they never reached out to the town for an outdoor dining permit.

"I'm sorry to see them close their doors but we've had no contact with them since covid started” he said, adding if they need any assistance don't hesitate to call.
