Morristown Parking Prices May Double to Defray Costs of New Credit Card Meters
It's been nearly two decades since the county seat has raised its parking costs, report says.

For the first time in 17 years the price of parking at several hundred meters in Morristown may go up.
The idea came about at the Morristown Council’s most recent meeting where parking dominated the discussion that focused on replacing 431 current meters with credit card meters on South, Morris, Washington, Market, Bank, Ann, and DeHart Streets, along with Speedwell, Cattano, and Maple Avenues, and Schuyler and Community Places, according to morristowngreen.com.
The current rate is $0.50 per hour, which would double to $1 for the same time frame at those meters. On the credit card meters, each transaction will cost $0.25, so rates must be hiked to cover fees, the report said.

An additional 290 coin meters could see prices rise to $0.75 per hour, but won’t have the machines replaced, the report said. The new machines would also be solar powered.
