Morristown Photo Gallery Offers Up Conversation With Featured Artists

Free two-hour session to be held June 4.

As their work hangs on the walls of Morristown’s 70 South Gallery, two featured photographers are taking the time to speak with budding artists about how they view work through the lens.

On Thursday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., Jay Seldin and Callie Wohlgemuth will be part of an open, free forum to have an “Informal Lens” conversation with other photographers.

Seldin, a documentary social photographer who works mostly with black and white and is the artist-in-residence at the Newark Art Museum and Montclair Art Museum, will be on hand to share his experiences and tips.

Alongside him will be Callie Wohlgemuth, a Morris Knolls High School student and self-taught photographer who picked up a camera in the eighth grade and hasn’t stopped shooting images since.

“I think art should portray and capture emotions and moments that words are unable to express,” Wohlgemuth said in a statement. “I want people to be able to connect with my art no matter who they are or what they are feeling. I want to make a connection with someone without ever saying a word to him or her.”

The event is free to the public but an RSVP is requested by emailing Ira L. Black at IraL.Black@70southgrallery.com before Tuesday, June 2.
