Morristown Rallies For Izzy, A Sick Therapy Horse

Izzy has been helping people for years and is now the one who needs help, according to fundraiser organizers.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The Morristown community is coming together to help Izzy, a local horse in need of surgery.

Izzy is part of the Friends of Seaton Hackney, a local nonprofit that specializes in ā€œequine-assisted therapy.ā€ She’s a therapy horse that has been providing comfort for local children and adults for years. Her calm spirit has helped horseback riders ā€œbuild confidence, strength, and trust,ā€ according to representatives.

But now, Izzy is the one who needs help.

According to Friends of Seaton Hackney, Izzy has a canker in one of her hooves, a painful condition that cannot go away on its own.

Treating the canker hoof requires surgery, as well as ongoing veterinary care, farrier work, medication, and more recuperative care.

Organizers have launched a GoFundMe to help raise money to get the care that Izzy needs.

ā€œThe cost of Izzy’s surgery and extended recovery is more than our small nonprofit can manage alone. That’s why we’re reaching out to our community — the same community Izzy has given so much to,ā€ the fundraiser reads. ā€œYour donation will help cover Izzy’s hoof surgery, follow-up veterinary visits, ongoing treatments and bandaging, specialized farrier care during healing, and pain management and medications.ā€

The GoFundMe, which can be found online here, has raised more than $1,500 so far, just short of its $2,000 goal.
