Morristown Restaurant's Wing Eating Contest Raises $5K For Nonprofit

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Wet naps were needed at The Office Tavern Grill last week as the establishment held a chicken wing eating contest to benefit charity.

The contest, held on June 29, celebrated National Chicken Wing Day while raising awareness and support for JBWS, originally founded as Jersey Battered Women's Service, a Morris County nonprofit that provides safety, support, and services for people impacted by domestic violence and abuse.

The contest also marked the finale of The Office Tavern Grill's 1 Million Wing Challenge fundraiser.

The showdown featured representatives from JBWS, patrons from The Office Tavern Grill, and local influencers including morristowneats, gabelifts, and somersetcountyeats.

Participants had seven minutes and six seconds to eat as many of the restaurant's signature Buffalo bone-in wings as they could.

Emerging victorious was Kevin from JBWS, who downed 22 Buffalo bone-in chicken wings within the allotted time. He walked out with a belly full of chicken wings and a $500 gift card to Dogfish Head.

Following the contest, a $5,000 check was presented to JBWS from The Office Tavern Grill.

JBWS provides emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, children's services, and community education for survivors of domestic violence throughout Morris County.

The Office Tavern Grill, located at 3 South St. in Morristown, is part of New Jersey-based hospitality group 40North. The restaurant is known for its elevated American comfort food and was the first restaurant in New Jersey to feature 40 beers on tap.
