Morristown Student Violinist Honored At MPAC

Violinists from across the county were recognized for their talent and dedication to the performing arts.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Morristown student violinist was recognized as a Mayo Performing Arts Center's Music Students of the Month onstage this past Saturday.

Students were nominated by teachers, and selected by the Theatre's Education Department for dedication and excellence in the performing arts. Students will be invited to preform in a year-end recital in June.

Jessica Vogel, a junior at Morristown High School, was nominated by Norma Davis. Here's what Davis had to say about Vogel:

Jessica Vogel is a dedicated member of the Morristown High School Orchestra, where she serves as section leader for the first violins. She also performs with the MHS Chamber Orchestra, the select Camerata ensemble, and the Pit Orchestra for the school musical. She has performed in the pit orchestra at Frelinghuysen Middle School, and is a valuable member of the Delbarton Abbey Orchestra. Jessica was selected for the NJSMA HS Region I Orchestra for the past two years, and for the NJSMA JHS Region I Orchestra during her freshman year. She performed with the NJMEA Honors Chamber Orchestra last spring. Jessica has been passionate about the violin since elementary school; her beautiful artistry, enthusiasm, and expressiveness through music are inspiring. She enjoys sharing her music, performing at numerous school and community venues, such as Care One, the Intergenerational Prom, Fosterfields, Martin Luther King Day, the Morris County Courthouse, and the Solo and Small Ensemble Concert.
