The book club was established and held in the Morristown Library, helping to guide the youngsters away from peer pressure and established a relationship with accepting friends.

“I chose this project because I believe that peer pressure is a major issue for young girls in today’s world,” Heller said in a statement through the Girl Scouts of America. “There would be less pressure if more girls had accepting friends that they could be themselves with, without fear of being judged. This group created a common interest for them in their love of books.”

The Gold Award is the highest award earned by a Girl Scout, which combines leadership development, career exploration and community service. It requires the candidate to conduct an 80-hour leadership project.
