New Affordable Apartments Coming To Morristown: How To Apply

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Four new affordable apartments are expected to become available in Morristown this fall, with prospective tenants being invited to apply for a spot on the town's rental waiting list.

The apartments are located at Cannon House Apartments, 70 Ridgedale Avenue, according to an Affordable Homes New Jersey notice. The four units are expected to be ready for occupancy in fall 2026, although that timeline is subject to change.

Monthly rents range from $567 to $1,597, depending on the apartment size and household income category. Sewer and trash are included in the rent, according to the notice.

The available units and rents are:

• A one-bedroom, very-low-income unit for $567 per month
• A two-bedroom, low-income unit for $1,296 per month
• A two-bedroom, moderate-income unit for $1,597 per month
• A three-bedroom, low-income unit for $1,466 per month

Income limits vary based on household size and whether applicants fall into the very low, low or moderate-income categories.

For a one-person household, the maximum annual incomes are $28,950 for very-low-income applicants, $48,250 for low-income applicants, and $77,200 for moderate-income applicants. For a four-person household, those limits are $41,340, $68,900, and $110,240, respectively.

The apartments include central air conditioning, a dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and washer and dryer. Complex amenities include a gym, pet play area, and rooftop resident lounge. Pets are permitted, subject to fees and restrictions, and the development is smoke-free.

Although income-eligible households may apply regardless of where they live, the notice says people who live or work in Essex, Morris, Union, or Warren counties will receive preference over applicants from other counties or states.

Anyone interested must submit a preliminary application through Affordable Homes New Jersey and join the Morristown rental waiting list by Nov. 23 to be included in the random lottery drawing that will determine priority order.

Affordable Homes New Jersey says applicants should submit a preliminary application and then follow the instructions they receive to access their profile and join the appropriate waiting list. Eligibility is based in part on household income and household size.
