New Jersey Went Murphy, Here's How Morris County Went

Morris County voters have been consistent in which party they favor for decades.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Democrat Phil Murphy was elected governor of New Jersey last night, but Morris County was one of eight counties that voted in favor of his Republican challenger, Kim Guadagno.

97,737 voters, or 62.4 percent of the vote cast in Morris County, voted in favor of Guadagno, versus 56,279, or 35.9 percent, who voted for Murphy. The remaining 1.7 percent of the vote was split between four third-party candidates.

Of the state senators and assembly members elected last night, only one Democrat from the county won: Sen. Richard Codey in the 27th district. He won by just 147 votes. The 27th district is split between Morris and Essex counties.
