Primi Passi (pree-mee pa-see, meaning “First Steps”) is a non-auditioned choral music experience for boys and girls in 2nd and 3rd grades. Lessons will cover basic choral technique and music reading skills, using song, musical games and folk dance. The songs will be specially selected for this age group. It is a wonderful way for children to explore their interest in music and singing, and could be a path to other opportunities within the New Jersey Youth Chorus.
We will offer two Primi Passi classes this spring. Level 1 is for those who are new to the program, and Level II is for those who have completed Level I. Both will meet in Chatham on Tuesdays from 4:30 – 5:30 PM for 8 weeks, starting on March 14th.
The New Jersey Youth Chorus is an auditioned choral program for children in grades two through twelve. Our mission is to provide exceptional choral music education and performance experiences, fostering expression, artistry and growth. NJYC is celebrating our 25th anniversary this year with many special performances and events scheduled.
