Non-profit to deploy NJ’s first mobile hygiene shower trailer

POWER CHANGES LIVES INC of Morris Plains, NJ is pleased to announce the deployment of LavaLove®, New Jersey’s first mobile hygiene shower and medical services trailer of its kind helping those who are homeless and “neighbors in need”. On Saturday, March 26, 2022, there will be an official Ribbon-cutting Ceremony from 2 pm – 6 pm, including a guided tour of the trailer, dedication to Mayor Jason Karr of Morris Plains, followed by a sit-down dinner. The event will be held at the Morris Plains Recreation Center located at 51 Jim Fear Road in Morris Plains, NJ, and is open to the public who must RSVP for the event. The event will also give special recognition to the many POWER® volunteers who have unselfishly donated their time, resources, and expertise to help those in low-income, minority and underserved communities in their journey to recovery and restoration.

According to Penelope Lopez, President and CEO, “Mayor Karr has been a lifeline and strong advocate for POWER®. His staff and administration have opened their doors to help our non-profit expand deeper into local and neighboring communities impacting lives. It is only fitting that the deployment of our first trailer is dedicated to Mayor Karr, as without his support we would have not been able to provide the significant number of statewide services through our programs.

LavaLove® is still looking for a “forever home” to provide services to those in need and is currently meeting with multiple county and local government officials and community partners to determine where they can strategically deploy, making the biggest impact. S.H.O.W. LavaLove® FREE Statewide Community Events

LavaLove® takes mobile hygiene on the road making stops for three S.H.O.W. LavaLove® events this year, starting with CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ on Saturday, April 30, 2022.

“Each of our S.H.O.W. LavaLove® event locations were specifically chosen to embed us in the heart of communities hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. These are FREE statewide events and open to anyone, anywhere who needs same day assistance. We’ll provide FREE food, clothing and various types of assistance through over 30 onsite partners that day. Our goal is to begin the restorative process from the moment you enter our events,” said Lopez.

LavaLove® will also make stops in Atlantic City, NJ at the Atlantic City Convention Center on Saturday, May 28th and Newark, NJ at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on July 16th. Each of the events will be followed by a celebrity charity benefit concert raising money for programs to rapidly rehouse unsheltered homeless, address food insecurity and mental health in low-income, minority and underserved communities throughout New Jersey.

LavaLove® is a 29-foot mobile hygiene shower trailer equipped with 3 shower-sink-toilets, washing machine/dryer, and ancillary services room (medical/dental/optometry/mental health screenings) and barber/grooming room. LavaLove® will serve communities in need three days per week and provide over 8,000 showers per year. LavaLove® not only addresses those who are water-insecure, but those food-insecure providing hot meals at the trailer site, and onsite access to medical practitioners, with a mission to provide access to clean, hot water and medical services beyond traditional shelter and hospital settings.
