MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morristown just welcomed a new café — well, "new" is relative in this case. The Savour Cafe has operated at 40 Morris St. for almost two years, but the grand opening took place Friday.

Brandy Cojocaru opened the original Savour Cafe in Newton in 2013, having missed the friendly, warm, European-style cafés with which she grew up in Romania. Then she opened its second location on Morris Street in February 2020.

But shortly after, Savour Cafe ran into the buzzsaw known as the pandemic — giving the new eatery extra challenges in the early going, along with a delay of celebrations.

"It was very tough, and it’s still tough," Cojocaru told Patch. "I think it will take a while for the food industry in general to recuperate."

But Friday's event marked a new chapter, with Morristown gradually reopening and several businesses celebrating their own openings. Read more: 3 Morristown Businesses Celebrating Openings This Month

Savour Cafe prides itself on making everything from scratch and supporting local farmers. The eatery got started with coffee, smoothies and baked goods but expanded with breakfast, sandwich and appetizer menus.

"I’m a psychologist by trade," Cojocaru said. "But food is my passion, and it just happened."

The Morristown location is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends.
