'Passion' and 'Pizzazz' Help Lift Morristown Football

Second-half surge propels Colonials past Chatham for first win of the season.

Both teams came into Saturday's game looking for their first win of the season.  A hard-fought defensive battle for the first half, it was not until the third quarter that either team got on the scoreboard.

Chatham scored first on a 9-yard touchdown run from junior quarterback Thomas Guida. 

But Morristown came back with a 65-yard punt return by Kamau Dumas.  Jordan Powell added another touchdown with a 22-yard run for the Colonials.

Chatham sought to come back and mounted a strong drive that stalled on the 2-yard line. 

Chatham went for the touchdown on fourth down but was stopped by the Morristown defense.

"We needed a good defensive job today and I think we had one," said Morristown head coach Chris Hull.

On the next play, Kamau Dumas took the ball from the backfield 98 yards for a touchdown.  "The line did a great job, they really got a good push," said Dumas, "I just stuck to my reads and I had a bunch of blockers in front of me.  I just thank the blockers for making the seams for me."
