Pete Tamburro, Jr. Joins the Morris County Historical Society's Board of Trustees

The MCHS Board of Trustees welcomes Mr. Tamburro, a distinguished local educator and author.

Mr. Peter J. Tamburro, Jr. has joined the Morris County Historical Society’s Board of Trustees. A life-long resident of Morris County, a distinguished educator, author of Gateway to Morris, a history of East Hanover, and author of several chess publications, Mr. Tamburro taught U.S. History in Morris County for 32 years. He was named New Jersey’s Outstanding Teacher of History in 1990, awarded the Woodrow Wilson Foundation Fellowship in World History at Princeton University in 1991, and a Council for Basic Education Fellowship in World History in 1993.

He served on historic commissions in East Hanover and Long Valley, and now lectures throughout New Jersey on local history, the U.S. Constittion, and public policy matters. He received a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and a M.A.T. from The College of New Jersey. Pete is a U.S. Army veteran with three sons.

The Morris County Historical Society, founded in 1945, is a member supported 501 (c)3 organization whose mission is to discover, preserve, promote, and interpret the history of Morris County and New Jersey as it relates to Morris County through events, programs, exhibits, publications, and preservation education.
