Phone Scam Circulating Around Greater Morristown, Police Say
According to police, the caller claims that a loved one has been injured or arrested and that you must meet with them or send them money.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — A new phone scam is going around the Morristown area, claiming that a loved one has been injured or arrested and that you must send money or meet with the caller to help.
Members of the Morris Township Police are asking residents to "take all steps to confirm the information you have been told is accurate."
Before meeting anyone or sending money, police ask that you contact family and friends and try to find out where they are. Police then advise you to contact the local police department right away.

"If someone asks you to pay 'a certain way' such as cash only or gift cards as examples, this should be a red flag. If they say they are sending someone to meet you for the exchange of money, this is another red flag," police said.
