Physician Entrepreneur Joins Atlantic Health System

Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for transforming health care delivery to patients and communities, Sylvia Romm, MD, MPH is the newest member of Atlantic Health System’s leadership team. As Chief Innovation Officer, Dr. Romm will build relationships with local and national innovation partners and further the system’s research profile. Dr. Romm will work with Atlantic Health System’s almost 17,000 team members and 4,800 physicians to find new ways to improve access to affordable health care, including the latest clinical advancements.

Dr. Romm’s addition to our team will enhance Atlantic Health System’s industry-changing efforts to make patient care safer, higher quality, and less costly.”

Dr. Romm firmly believes that the patient-centered focus of health systems makes them vital leaders when it comes to innovation in healthcare. She is eager to leverage her past as a clinician and as an entrepreneur to further build and support Atlantic Health System’s Innovation and Research strategies.

Before joining Atlantic Health System, Dr. Romm was with American Well, the largest video-based telemedicine company in the US, where she served as Vice President of Clinical Transformation. Prior to this, Dr. Romm embraced her entrepreneurial spirit by founding and growing her own business, MilkOnTap, the nation’s first telehealth company focusing on the needs of nursing mothers and lactation support.

Dr. Romm is a board-certified pediatrician and practiced medicine for nearly a decade and served in a variety of clinical leadership roles throughout her residency and as a hospitalist. She also holds a Masters of Public Health (MPH) from Harvard University. Dr. Romm is an avid author and speaker in the areas of healthcare, technology, and health IT policy, with articles published in NEJM Catalyst, Forbes, KevinMD, and Huffington Post and named as one of FierceHealthCare’s 8 Influential Women Reshaping Health IT.
