Pounds Of Meth Meant For Morristown Pair Seized At Hanover Hotel: Prosecutor
Two Morristown residents face several charges, including conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — It's a busy time of year for those making deliveries, but a package with 500 grams of methamphetamine at a Hanover hotel didn't quite fit the holiday spirit. An ensuing investigation tied a Morristown pair to 1.5 kilograms of the drug, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday.

Hanover police received word Nov. 24 that a package addressed to a Hanover hotel had 500 grams of methamphetamine. Subsequent investigation resulted in the seizure of an additional 1,000 grams of the drug and more than two ounces of Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) from two hotel rooms and a home, authorities said.

The prosecutor's office did not disclose at which hotel the drugs were found.
Authorities determined that Barbara Maronpot and Christopher Gallaway, both of Morristown, were the initial package's intended recipients. They were each charged with the following:

- one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine
- one count of possession with intent to distribute 5 ounces or more of methamphetamine
- one count of possession with intent to distribute one-half ounce or more but less than 5 ounces of methamphetamine
- one count of possession with intent to distribute less than one-half ounce of methamphetamine
- three counts of methamphetamine possession
- one count of conspiracy to distribute GHB
- one count of possession with intent to distribute GHB
- one count of possession of GHB
- two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute
Gallaway, 48, remains in the Morris County Jail, pending a detention hearing. Maranpot, 67, was released by the court pending trial.
