Recreational Weed Near Morristown: Closest Places to Buy Thursday

MORRISTOWN, NJ — While this may be a happy 4/20 for all who celebrate, the real changes in New Jersey's cannabis market begin Thursday. That's when 13 dispensaries, including some within driving distance of Morristown, can begin selling weed to adults for recreational purposes.

It will take some time before Morristown has a dispensary of its own. Town officials will allow up to two to open. Six businesses applied to open retail-cannabis establishments in Morristown, and the town Cannabis Advisory Board will review their proposals over the next few weeks.

But those in Morristown eager to buy some weed can find a few dispensaries Thursday within drivable range. The closest that can offer recreational cannabis are Apothecarium in Maplewood, RISE Paterson and RISE Bloomfield.

Recreational consumers can buy up to 1 ounce of dried flower; up to 5 grams of concentrates, resins or oils; or as many as 10 100 milligram packages of ingestible items in a single transaction.

And don't forget: customers must be at least 21, driving while high is illegal and so is crossing state lines with weed.

• The Botanist, 100 Century Dr., Egg Harbor Township
• The Botanist, 2090 N Blackhorse Pike, Williamstown
• The Cannabist/Columbia Care, 1692 Clements Bridge Rd., Deptford (5 p.m. open for recreational)
• The Cannabist/Columbia Care, 1062 North Delsea Dr., Vineland (5 p.m. open for recreational)
