Residents Battle Another Proposed Daycare Center in Morristown

Hours-long zoning board meeting spruced up by public's ire, report says.

Nothing says community like banding together for a common cause.

Interestingly, though, that cause is yet another battle against a proposed daycare facility in Morristown, one that has brought out concern and anger from residents.

According to morristowngreen.com, a packed house sat and listened to testimony before the zoning board Wednesday night from applicant 170 Madison Ave., LLC, a developer looking to build a Learning Experience franchise on Madison Avenue at the intersection of Normandy Parkway.

Testimony at the meeting included everything from train decibel levels to fence heights and tree inventories, the report said. The one-acre parcel of land being considered is home to 145 trees that could be chopped down to make way for the 10,000-square foot building, the report said.

As the video shows, one resident, Steve Miller, gets heated when his question goes unanswered during the public comment portion of the meeting.

The next scheduled meeting is Sept. 10, when the project’s traffic consultant is expected to testify, the report said.
